Target is 8.5" x 11" paper.

Are you using the ghost ring site? I find a scope helps a lot. My grouping at 25 is about 1 inch. Also, is it the 9mm or the .40? I think my .40 shoots tighter than the 9

I have a red dot sight on it. Those targets were shot at 25 yards, while I was leaning against a post... It was originally sighted in with Winchester White Box at 50 yards.

I'm not overly fond of the red dot sight for target shooting, because it just has the dot...nothing to line it up with. To me, it seems like a shotgun with just a bead sight in the front.

That’s why I prefer a regular scope. Not that I plan on shooting over any great distance, my 9 has a 4x, and the .40 has a 2.5x. Both are pretty compact, and sight well.

For close range, I use the laser, or just shoot from the hip (I’ve gotten good at hitting cans at about 10 yards without even sighting)

Wolf and Craig,

I have a older BSA PB30 Red Dot on mine. I was thinking about taking it off and putting the original ghost ring sight back on it. I like it, but like Wolf said, it's like looking at my shotgun with just the front bead sight.

I have a BSA “Deer Hunter” 2.5x, and really like it a lot. Found it at Di**’s sporting goods (formerly Galyans) Give it a try :)

A little heads up... OH newbie here glad I can join up :)
I have had SKS' AKs' and I regulary shoot a Savage 10FP .308.
I am a fairly good shot and like to plink ALOT.
I also was looking at a pistol cal. carbine, somin' cheap and fun.
Looked at a Beretta Storm, expensive, Ruger is not as accurate as the CX4, and is exp. too.
Both above are more than my Savage, Soooooo.. I did some research and found MOST, if not a majority of Hi-Point carbine owners were extremely happy with thier plinkers. I bought one.
Amazingly accurate, more than my SKS or AK.
I got the 9 with a crappy ProMag, dont get one, go for a factory mag. here is the hilarious part, bought an ATN digital red dot last night.. 170 bux. 400 bux in a plinker / 'yote stalker rifle.
I shoot sub MOA at 25-35 yrds, can nail a chicken at 100 yards (they are steel targets at one of my local ranges). At 200 yards you could hit a 3' square if you bench the sucker.
Would I buy it again? Absolutly!
I may get the .40 when one shows up at one of the local shops.
You wont be disapointed even though HP's reputation is crap.
I hope this helps.
Besides EVERYONE has an AR around here, I live within 100 miles of 4 major mililtary posts. No one has a HP carbine, this is the first weekend I have been home ( I own my own 18 wheeler) in a while, so I am sure there will be some peeps that will laugh at me at the range today, until I let them shoot it. for 190 bux it is well worth the moolah.

I’ve now put over 800 rounds through mine without a hitch. Yeah, sometimes you have to endure sneers, until people see you banging away, and hitting the target every time. Then they stop sneering, and start asking where they can get one. 8)

I picked up one in a trade a few years back, It shot very well heavy trigger but I was pleasantly suprised. Not bad for the price. I sold it off soon after that but for the price it's not a bad shooter.

I see this string is kind of old, but anyone still thinking about the Hi point carbine, here is a link to a $69 stock that copies the Beretta CX4 storm. I will be getting one. and a link for more info on the weapon.

personally i would skip any weapon that is chambered in 9mm. I have shot the 9mm carbine and while it did function prefectly and handeled easy i just cant bring myself to trust my life with a 9mm..... go with the .40 and you shouldnt be disapointed

I agree. . . and disagree. I would rather have a .40 for defense any day. But if you read most of these posts, these guys are doing a lot of shooting for fun. Ammo for the 9mm is way cheaper than .40. With the carbine length barrel, the 9mm might get a little velocity boost over a handgun length barrel. Premium quality +P hollow points in 9mm are nothing to sneeze at. Still, premium .40 S&W hollow points are better.

Kel-Tec also makes a semi-auto rifle that looks like the Highpoint,if I ever find one I want it in 9mm for the reasons mentioned, super cheap ammo.I bought several boxes Federal Hydrashock ammo of 50 rounds each box for 16.00 from Cheaper than Dirt for my other 9mm's and they are super stoppers.
I bought a box of frangibles for 9mm and shooting through a doubled pair of jeans and an old army jacket I was impressed and would give anything to not be on the recieving end of that round.I don't know about accuracy but the leathality is awesome.Drop-Shot

the 9mm highpoint is a great gun...you can use it for HD if you have the right ammo...Hollow point like 115 grain..That would be great HD

I hate to buck the system but I bought a CX4 Storm set up for 92 FS mags, then I ordered the top rail and the front tri-rail setup. All are installed I have a pretty decent red dot on it now, also ordered 3 30 round mags. I have not fired the weapon yet but it is ready to go, almost forgot I switched every thing to left handed execpt the bolt release that is not reversible.

Yeah I have to agree on not buying after market mags .They dont work worth a nickle. The prices from Hi point for mags are really reasonable also. I picked up my 9mm when they first hit the market an I have to say it makes for a great plinker .My wife loves it also. On day hikes up into the hills I might throw it over my shoulder an being as its so light and compact it isnt a bother. I'm one of those that doesnt go out into the woods un armed an I can hear it now "Wouldnt want to depend on a 9mm "But around here your biggest threat for the most part is Buzz tails an I spose you could run into a cat or black bear but depending on the area not likely an fire off a couple rounds an their heading out .An one thing about the gun is that I see a lot of smaller police Dept that are using them due to the price and what not .Small town police force not likely to be gettin outfitted with AR 15's or Benelie's
