Never tried 'em.

I've found Sierras to be the most accurate, but I only use them on deer-sized game, as they seem to be a pretty fragile bullet. Bigger animals, I use Nosler Partitions.... not quite as accurate, but very predictable performance.

You know how us old farts are.... set in our ways, and ain't gonna change.

The accuracy bug hits me ever so often.I can have 1 to 1 1/2 inch group with Partitions or 3/4 to 1 inch with Barnes TSX and slightly better with the 185 gr Bergers.Of course the only things I have shot at in the past 3 years was paper and paper dies easily.
I had the same results with Sierra's,great accuracy but has problems with large deer like the muleys here or Elk.If I just want to shoot for fun I shoot Sierra's,I still have several boxes of 165 gr and 180 gr Game King's.
Just wondering as the Bergers shoot 2 inches higher than any other bullet I shoot and groups extremely well. Thanks wwb.Mike

I use Berger bullets also, but not in a caliber that I would use for hunting large game. My buddy used the VLDs in .270 - Berger says the VLD can be used as a hunting bullet - and took a couple of deer last season. The bullet penetrates a couple of inches then must do an extreme expansion as the bullet didn't exit either deer. Both deer were also instant drops. The VLD seems to be a good bullet for deer sized game, but with the small amount of penetration before maximum expansion, I wouldn't try in on elk.

Berger makes Hunting bullets, Target bullets and Varmint bullets, the .277" is a hunting bullet, be sure to get what you need. I've shot the 130gr VLD Hunting in my 260 Remington H&R, very accurate, and from all my research, very effective on deer, haven't killed anything with them yet tho.

Just to add,I talked to a guide from south of here from the Bitter Roots while he was getting tires close to where I live.He says he has had fair results with Bergers,"folks can't buy a bullet at any price that can compensate for poor bullet placement" he said but for the ones that were shot well the bullets performed well.He was fond of the Swift bullets.Mike
