Turning a revolver into a blank gun question ?????????

I want to take a Uberti Cattleman revolver and turn it into a blank gun for theatrical purposes. I thought of plugging the barrel and then drilling a few vent holes in the top of the barrel in the area before the plug to let the gases escape. We will be using the plastic blanks that hold about 15 grains of black powder and use a shotgun primer.
Does this sound like a good way to do it or does anyone have a better way?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That would surely do it.
I know folks that use their colts for blank firearms without all that.
They just load 45 lc brass with a primer installed and go with that.
But if you wanted to truly make sure the gun will show others it's just a blank gun then plugging the barrel will do the trick.

Thanks for the response. Since 2014 I have made great strides in blank guns for reenacting. I even made a utube video about the usin a Pietta Great Western 2 blank gun and making blanks for it. Here is the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifisfei ... e=youtu.be
I have come to find out that even if a gun is modified for blanks the state still consideres it a real gun untill it has been distroyed.
