I have recently aquired A Winchester mod 1917 30-06 bolt action rifle, from what I 've read they were used in WWI and then many were sporterized by lightening the stock or replacing it all together.

The one I bought has had the stock replaced with a fairly nice wood one, birch I believe. The old iron sights were taken off pretty well, not with a hacksaw and grinder. I would rate the bluing in the mid to upper 80's %. The wood i would rate as a low to mid 90's %. The bolt has a new locking spring and locks up tight and opens with some authourity. This gun also has a Williams base with a Lyman Perma-Center 4X scope mounted( I have been told the scope is worth $125-$140)
Any help would sure be appreciated
    Thanks Karl
