Q: does anyone have a favorite load spec? I'll be shooting no more than 75 yrds.
Starline Brass, CCI primer, 22.8 grains of 2400, and a Hornady 240 grain XTP. Out of a Ruger .44 carbine, it's just shy of 1800 fps.
Sight it in 1" high at 100..... zero at about 20 yards, +2 inches at about 60, +1 inch at 100, zero at about 125, and starting to drop fast.
It's not a bad pistol load either, but for my hand cannon, I load 300 grain slugs..... they won't feed in the carbine, though.
I had a Marlin .44 mag rifle for awhile. I shot factory ammo with 240 grain bullets. Almost all of my bullets would shed their jackets on impact. Weird...
