Just wondering what some of you have found to be the best defense load for the .45 acp.
It's kinda hard to beat Golden Sabers and Hydrashocks in ANY caliber.
Agreed! In my super-technical  scientific tests (shoot wet phone books at 5 & 12 yds), the HydraShok and the Golden Saber are really impressive. I shoot mostly H-Shoks due to local availability, but the Sabers are just as good. JMHO

Try the 180 grain Cor-bon +P.
Re: re: .45 acp loads
GWP has it right, those cor-bons are terror on whatever they hit.
THe hydras are nasty little fellows, too.
Anything out of a .45 is pretty serious.... even the military ball ammo.
HOW you shoot is WAY more important than WHAT you shoot. A hit with a .380 auto beats a miss with a .454 Casull every time.
Golden Sabers, Hydra-Shocks, and the like are all pretty comparable, any differences is mostly academic. I don't use +P ammo in my 45 ACP as it doesn't feed reliably in the short, 3 1/2" barrel Officer model I carry. I also don't like the Cor-Bons as they have excessive recoil making an accurate second shot more difficult and they have some pretty awesome muzzle flash in the dark. That they are hard on the gun frame is another strike against them in my eyes.
