are A-bolts built in the US or in japan like browning shotguns? I handled one the other day and wasnt impressed but I have since found a 300 win mag that is beautiful and a 375 H&H A-bolt that was nicely priced so I may hafta give the A-bolt a 2nd chance so lets hear what u guys like about the A-bolt. BTW I know this isnt shotgunworld but i was just wondering while I was sitting here is the new cynergy built in Japan by miroku like the citori? Thanx

My 30.06 needed more recoil pad than it came with, for me anyway.
Like it enough to want another in different caliber and stainless steel.

Aaron, I have a Stainless stalker and I Love that gun.They are great shooters. I didn't think I would like it either but it turned out to be one of my favorite guns..

my father has an a-bolt gold medallion with a leoupold vx III on it. the first impression i get when i pick up this gun is that it is a light weight, well built rifle. the wood seems to be very high quality as well. it has an adjustable trigger, and a very nice magazine.
despite my first impressions of the rifle, i was very dissapointed with the bolt. it was cumbersome, and difficult to use.

a couple days ago, i was hunting with my father. i picked up his rifle to hand it to him. the first thing i always do when i pick up a gun is check to see if it is loaded. i tried to pull back the bolt, but it wouldn't budge. it turns out that you have to turn the safety off in order to open the bolt. this really bothered me as i'm very serious about firearm safety.

other than the bolt, and the deal with the safety, i like the rifle

Are you sure it doesn't have a 3-way safety? As far as the bolt goes there must be some maintainence issue or maybe a mechanical problem because every A-bolt that I have ever touched has been slick as sh!t. Maybe not as slick as the 710 though :roll: .

I have a Medallion that is really nice. I like the detachable mag, the 60 degree throw and the location of the safety. Accuracy is good, around a inch at 100 yards.

Just ordered a Medallion A-Bolt in 204 Ruger.Can't wait to get it.The other rifle I was impressed with was a Kimber in 204 Ruger.They are too pricey I think.The A-Bolt seems to me as good.

love my ABolt stainless stalker in 7mm-08, light ,accurate with handloads,just wish they could have figured out a better safety,I prefer the ruger safety by far.

I love my Browning Euro A-bolt in 270. One of te few guns I own that truely fits me. Nice comb on the stock as well as a palm swell. Not sure why but I also have always loved butterknife bolt handles.

I have 3 Browning A-Bolts, (A-Bolt .22 Gold Medallion, Medallion .30-06, Medallion with BOSS in .375 H&H). All are excellent performers. I think the Browning A-Bolt is one of the best looking bolt actions out there. I like the short bolt lift as well. Bill T.

I have a hunter with a synthetic stock and love it. It's a 25-06 so I can take long shots at deer with plenty of confidence. I've toyed with many handloads but I always seem to come back to 100 nosler ballistic tip with IMR 4831 powder.
My only complaint is the matte finish likes to rust. I will take extra special care and this rifle will stil start to rust unless I check it monthly.
A friend of mine has one with wood stock and cannot get good groupings of any bullet over 100 grains.

With all that said, I would not change a thing if I had to do it again. It's been a great gun.

I got a stainless stalker in .300 WSM about 5 mos. ago. Haven't even had the chance to break it in yet- just way too busy with work, the kids, etc... I would like to hear some opinions on the BOSS system, I was talked out of it by a friend of mine who was of the opinion that the benefits did not outweigh the extra loud bang from the porting(unless you use the CR) and all those little holes to fill up with stuff while you are hunting (he actually does quite a bit of shooting and has more invested in his guns than I have in all 5 of my vehicles, so I took him at his word). I had a heckof a time finding one in my caliber with no BOSS and actually had one dealer tell me Browning was discontinuing the A-bolt because of the new X-bolt. Is there any truth to that? Because Browning still has the A-bolt listed on their website.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

I also heard the A-bolt was being discontinued due to the X-bolt, but i was told recently that browning is just not promoting them as much/at all. Dont know if that is the truth, but that is what i was told from a d i c ks employee.

I shot a buddies 338wm a-bolt not long ago, and i liked the feel of it. So I bought a 30-06 stainless stalker a couple weeks ago. Going to break it in, in the morning. I will let you know how it went.
Also, Every bolt i have ever fiddled with on ANY A-bolt, has been nothing short of amazing.
