Damnit I just read in the news that the republicans are messing around with our wildlife protection act, reducing habitat acres for endangered species because of "Undue financial burden". BOOHOO so some rich realestate dealer and contracter can't build on some choice land so they can make more money than they have already.

I want endagered species to get back on thier feet so I can hunt them, then eat them. I don't want to goto a museum to point out to my children that "Daddy was around when those things were still around but they are all gone now".

..... cuz we all know him and his staff are directly responsible for things happening, like the hurricane thing, missing two rather tall buildings in NY, and El Nino.

Other than that, the phrase "read it in the news" caught my eye. My "love" for the media has been on display for all to see here quite a few times.

go wired,I'll take a republican in office anyday over a democrat. The President is just trying to raise money for the rebuilding of the south and its costing way more than everyone thought. If the democrats had their way this would be a police state, only the police could be armed and anyone having a firearm would be a bad guy. They are trying to disarm this country as we speak,so with a democrat in office Cook one day you may be telling your kids about the good old days when we use to be able to hunt.Drop-Shot

    Cook,

For ONCE take the time to learn about something before posting.

    1) it isn't just rich devlopers, it's Joe Sixpack that can't build on his own property because some "endangered" critter is there.

    2) look at PRK, the idiots in the cities won't let the cougar come off the endangered list, but, they (cougars) are attacking people.

    3) the spotted owl that supposedly can only nest in old growth forests has been spotted in the K of a K-Mart sign. All they need is a ready supply of rodents

    4) so much of the endangered species act is pseudo-science it's a waste of time.

    5) so much of the "work" being done to bring back wildlife is being researched by non-biologists.

Learn something about subjects before spouting off.

I have to admit that developers and the mining industry have the best State Legislature their $$ can buy, here in Nevada. They have pretty much $crewed up the hunting in this State, and they haven't even $tarted!!! Anything they want done, gets done, at the expense of fragile habitat. Because we are relatively high up here and have so little rainfall, our high desert/stepp takes hundreds of years to recover from gouging and blasting. The aquifers are ripped out of existence by development and mining, and they can NEVER be repaired, Never. I have watched whole mountain ranges become an open pit...just visit Carlin Gold sometime. It would make you sick if you saw it and knew what was once there. I am a 5th generation Republican, but I'll tell you straight, the Republicans care nothing about a place for you to hunt...not as a National Party... There are exceptions, and we need these guys, but on a whole, we are not winning the habitat battle.

    Problem 1.
If we elect Republicans, we won't have any place to hunt...all developed.

    Problem 2.
If we elect Democrats, we won't have anything to hunt with...no more guns.

Guys, face facts...all the politicians are $crewing us. I know for a fact; my wife runs an office for a lobbiest. Its a fact! :(

We need to get off politics here, now...COOK, and others... talk about what is good about our sport and how to make it better, IMHO. :D :D

Exllecent points. One thing Montana is doing is this montana inititive(spelling),the state has brokered a deal with land owners to allow passage on their land with written permission and some will allow hunters to retrieve game on privite property.Thats a huge step for hunters.Drop-Shot

Roger that luvsafari, no political discussion on shootingworld :( Just thought it would be a good thing to discuss.

I am a democrat, but I also know I need republicans. With out you guys the nuttier people in my party will take my guns away. Just realize that at the same time without democrats we'll be breathing some really nasty air and we'll have nothing to hunt.

Re: re: DAMN THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION!!!!!

You REALLY need to learn something about politics before making such statements.

Zell Miller is a good guy - Democrat who crosses the isle with some frequency

John McCain - Republican who crosses the isle way to often supporting liberal causes

so forth and so on. Half the Republicans in the Senate are RINO (Republican In Name Only) which is why Bush has such a hard time getting some things through.

If you love guns and freedom, give consideration to loving Libertarians.

    Current party vs old parties

Democrat of today is the Socialist/Communist of the 50's/60's
Republican of today is the Democrat of the 50's/60's
Libertarian of today is the Republican of the 50's/60's

Grimel's right on the mark with this one, I've been a Republican since I could vote in 1980, and the more I see politics play out, the more I believe there is no party that stands for limited government and personal responsibility, and NO government handouts. The libertarians are looking better and better to me. I know that party doesn't stand a snowball's chance of beign elected dogcatcher right now, but if things keep going the way they are I believe this will change.

Re: re: DAMN THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION!!!!!

You are insane. NOBODY wants nasy air. You have limited hunting because of the Democrats not the republicans. Who do you think is trying to prevent black bear hunting in NJ? Who is preventing the hunting of wolves in the lower 48 regardless of the damage done to the elk herd? Who is trying to limit wolf hunting in Alaska regardless of the damage done to the moose herd? Who is trying to prevent hunting cougars in Kalifornication regardless of the numbers of livestock, pets, and PEOPLE that are attacked/killed?

I'll give you hint it isn't the Republicans.

Muahaha personally I believe that we are all resonable adults that can keep an open mind and still like a person even tho' thier opinions differ on politics. Just so long as we don't start throwing around your mama insults i think we should be okay.

I probally should have picked a better title for my topic but it was the heat of the moment.

Besides I think that a reduction in OUR protected wildlife areas is a very serious thing that all hunters should be aware of be we republican or democrat. I think that we can all agree that protecting OUR wildlife is an important thing.

Parting shot, according to alot of old cook books I have, sea turtles taste great. I can only look foward to the day when they get taken off of the endangered species list and I can cook one. And make omlettes. Or even better a Sea Turle soup served in it's own shell, that would be pimp!

Economically using federally protected land in Alaska does seem too bad, but with skyrocketing oil prices, it would be a shame not to give into demand, at least a little bit. Scenic beauty is great, but we also need money and power to keep it.
