Good morning Pat,I have never heard of any bad things from CZ,I have never shot them but I read they were the best value in a semi auto out there.Back in Kent Washington I had problems with a couple teenagers trying to break in our house and delt with the sherriffs department, several suggested the CZ75 as a carry gun and said all most all officers had great things to say about them and either owned one or wanted one.Thats a great endorsement.Drop-Shot

I dunno Clayshooter, for the price you have to pay to get a 1911 that feeds reliably, you can buy 4 glocks that work right out of the box! To each his own, though, I certainly will say that there are more 1911 clones than ever, so somebody must like them :)

Clayshooter,How you been?I go to the gunshops every week and I can't find a springfield for under 650.00,and most of the other places I go put higher prices than that, the guy at one of the gunshops says they get so few GI springfields they can sell them for more. That don't sound like good math to me,the ones I like are 899.00,no play in the slides at all and factory fixed sights.I only have 1 1911 and I love it,its in 10mm,I want one in 45acp.I still have 2 glocks and 1 has had several cases of +p 9mm and still no failures. The 45acp has had less than 1 case,no failures and carries 13+1.The Seattle police and sherriffs dept gave some stastictits(mispelled) in 1996 the officers averaged 1 hit in 6 shots.97 1 in 8 shots and then back to 1 in 6,if all you have is a 7 shot and several bad guys, you are poop out of luck.In stead of hiring new people every month they should pay good and train them boys to shoot!Target shooting don't get it done, when folks are firing back it gets tough.Way too many shootings in Seattle for me.One day I will get the nice springfield.Have a good one bud.Drop-Shot

Hey Dropshot,

Did ya see the article in ShootingTimes last month? They did a piece on the new 1911 that Taurus is coming out with. Ambidextrious safety for ,us lefties, extended beavertail, and LOTS of other extras. Blued or Stainless, less than $650. Its supposed to be completely customized much like a Kimber.I may just have one of these as soon as they come out.

I read that too HWD,the writer was impressed and shot well with this gun.I would like to compare the taurus with the springfield GI for fit and finish, they are about the same price.Drop-Shot

I've handled the Springfields at a couple of shops here local. The only problem that I have a 1911 is that after one or two shots, the mag falls out. If I can find a 1911 with ambi safety and a mag release that is either low to begin with or can be reversed,I'd buy it. For those reading this and wondering why the mag keeps falling out, put a 1911 in your left hand and see where the mag button is. And Yeah i've gotten set in the way that I shoot and don't really want to try and change.Just being an ole POOT on this one.

Looks like there's only two ways to solve your 1911 Magazine problem.

1) Duct Tape (Red Green would be proud of me for suggesting that)

2) A wheelgun, like a S&W M29.

It's kinda funny in a way.I shoot a 1911 really well when I can keep the mag in. The only other hand gun that I shoot well is something in a single action design. Something about those plowhandle grips just feels right. Maybe its because I used to follow a pony around while hanging on to the handles of a plow. Maybe my Dad wasn't a sadist after all!

Most other revolvers just never felt right. I've got a S&W Sigma in 40 cal now(glock knockoff) and the wife has one of 9945's. I can shoot em ok but they just don't exactly right. Most of my problems with them is between my ears. I 'll get over it,maybe, or just go buy me another Ruger Blackhawk.

Funny you should say that - I have an original Flattop .44, an old model Ruger Super Single Six convertible, and a New Model .357 Blackhawk. I kinda like the single actions, too.

The GI 5" cost around $499 around here. They are real fun to shoot. I like the solid, heavy feel to them. They feel and shoot like a "real" gun in my opinion. Maybe someday I will buy one. JMHO.

Good luck.

Clayshooter thats a good price, when I go visit my daughter in Seattle I will go to the gun shops I used to buy guns at and check out their price, almost all guns I bought over there were cheaper that I could buy here,I'm not sure why guns are more expensive here.I shoot the 1911 pistol well and would like to have that springfield GI.Drop-Shot

Drop shot ...I can tell you're enthusiastic about the Glocks. That's great. I've shot Glocks in .45,.40,9 mm and .357 sig. Never had a problem except that range rental. All were friends and they clean em as you should. I'll take a Glock any day over nothing. Keep your Glocks clean bro !!!
