I was advised it was ok to post a pistol question here so here goes. I have a Harrington and Richardson model 929 9 shot .22 cal. revolver. I am having a problem with misfires every 2nd or 3rd shot. I found the plastic piece at the top of the mainspring rod to be severely broken and replaced the entire mainspring assembly thinking surely this was the problem. The gun is still doing the same thing even after replacement of this part. If the hammer is pulled back manually it fires reliably ever time but not when fired double action. It appears the hammer is not contacting the bullet hard enough when the misfire occurs although I see no damage or wear to front of the hammer which contacts the bullet. Anyone have any idea what else could be wrong here?
