Does anyone have a Henry rimfire? How much did you pay, what cal. & do you like it? They look really nice & Ive handled a few. I think Im gonna start small gaming W/ a rimfire this year. Ive never missed w/ my vintage 500c but im tired of pickin bone fragments & #6 out of my stew!
I won one of these in .22 LR in a drawing a couple years ago. I gave it to my brother in law and he is very happy with it. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the gun as he is a terrible shot on his best days. 4" 50 yard groups (maybe its even less far) seem to be his norm and this is with a scope. I haven't asked to shoot the gun as I am afraid he would get offended if I out shot him with his own gun, he is strange that way. Cost for these run in the $250 range around here, give or take about $20. The little I looked over the one I bought it appeared to be well made and a decent value. I'd get another one but I have enough rimfires; at least for today.
Thanks ,for the reply dog. How do you guys win all these guns? Do you have a system  ?Ive never even won a gift cert. for Dunkin Donuts at my club Seriously, that shooting is pretty bad & im a pretty bad shot too ,so Id probably fair no better w/ the gun. I like levers though ,hows the Marlin? Any other suggs?Ive owned an Ithaca single shot lever & a 10/22 in the past. Thanks again!
 ny, Marlin 39's are among my favorite .22's I have two right now. Both are older models. I had one with the safety and rebounding hammer. I hated the rebounding hammer and sold the gun. But the old style are neat rifles. I bought one when I was about 18 and had it for many years, then sold it. Finally, located another of the same era. I will keep it. Last summer I came across a 39 in a mountie version. Bought it. It looks mint. They have all been accurate enough for small game to 75 yards or so. I would say my Rem. bolt actions are more accurate, but they do not offer the quick handling of the 39's. Had several Win. 9422's, but like the heavier barrel of the 39 better. If you get a used one, maybe you can give it a try before buying. I have never had one that wasn't accurate, but never had one that would match a bolt action. However, my bolts are Rem. target guns.
Thanks Wyo ,I think you sold me on the marlin ,itll match my 1894!Theres about 10,000 of them at a local used gun dealer,Ill have to drop in & check em out. What ammo do you shoot in it?
Went to my gun shop today they didnt have any marlin 39s left, yeah they sold all 10000  ,I saw a new tarus pump & the henry I origonally wanted. It was actually a hard desision ,the tarus had nice fiber optic sights & a cool little corn cob pump handle but the henry was really pretty & has a super smooth action so I whipped out the c/c and bought it 225$ new(22lr all blued lever mod.) Did I get ripped? Anyway I drove right to the range and shot it at 25 &50 yds It did about an 1'' at 25 but the sights are to big to aim accuratly at 50 . I think the sights would be fine for popping bunnies & tree rats at 20yds but I think ill scope it anyway.
