KMart & WalMart sell AK-47's?

Since when did Walmart and kmart start selling assault rifles?
According to the Sen. Charles Schumer they must. An article in the New York Post has him urging these retailers to stop selling them. Am I wrong here? Have I been spending too much time looking at the hunting gear and missed the asault rifles?
Here's the article I'm referring too...

But New York has the highest number of crimes committed with guns purchased out of state. In 2001, 3,662 crimes were committed with out-of-state guns.

Well the fact is those guns probley wher bought out side the state but, the seller probley bought them out side the country.

Schumer and Feinstein are really way out there...

They have their own political agendas that have absolutely nothing to do with reality.

I defy him to document even one-half of the 3,662 shootings that he "claims" took place in NY with guns bought outside the state.

These two are the modern day Joseph McCarthy - the Senator from the 1950's who yelled about Communist in the FBI, in the State Department, in the military and in the White House. That sob ruined lives for a decade. He claimed "x" number of commies in all of the branches of government and never showed ONE!!

However, as members of the US Senate I don't know of anything that can be done about their ranting - just have to wait until they are VOTED OUT...
I bought a number of sks 56s from Roses. they are a Kalishnikov design semi auto predecessor of the AK 47.
Also bought several swedish 6.5s there. Saw a number of semi auto "assault style" rifles being sold at retail outlets like Roses, but full auto's are forbidden by law already.

They are a Simonov design actually based on an earlier design developed by Simonov in 1936 as a prototype self-loading military rifle and was adopted by the Russian Military in 1949, two years after the AK-47 was and was originally intended as a complement to the AK-47s select-fire capability.

A surprising number of those guns were tracked to a local gun store in central virginia. Drug dealers were bringing coke from NY and found it profitable to return to NY with relatively cheap handguns purchased in Central VA. (which they could sell in NY at a profit). As a result, VA legislators
passed a 1 handgun per month bill 4 or 5 years ago, specifically to stem the tide of handguns from central va to NY city.
