Hello. thank you for letting me on this forum. I have just picked up a model 70 cal .270 the serial no. is 819614 I know it is not a pre 64 by way of the barrel contour and it has a push-feed bolt. It has impressive checkering on the stock, a metal plate on the grip cap, a rubber recoil pad , factory iron sights, and it was factory drilled and tapped on the side of the receiver. Can anybody give me any information on this rifle, year of production, barrel twist, good or bad features? Any collector value? Thanks for your time. :)

GUEST, YOUR MOD.70 WAS MADE IN 1966. THE BARREL TWIST IN M70 .270'S IS ONE TURN IN 10". THE PAD IS PROBABLY NOT ORIGINAL, BUT THIS DOESENT USUALLY MATTER. AS THERE IS NOT MUCH COLLECTOR VALUE IN THE OLDER PUSH FEED MODELS. THEY WERE AND ARE EXCELLANT AND ACCURATE HUNTING RIFLES. HOPE THIS HELPS. COLTMAN.
