New to this site and could use some help

I've been lurking here for a few weeks. This site, like Shotgunworld, seems to have some of the more insightful shooters in the world.

I'm hoping someone could help with a rifle I recently won at a sporting clays event. It's a Marlin 989 M2 .22. It's brand new in the box and has never had a single shell through it.

The information on this gun is very limited. I'm hoping that someone can tell me about this thing.

Thanks for your help!

I checked out Marlin's website(www.marlinfirearms.com) and found that the only thing that came near to this was a 917 m2. It seems that the "M2" is their designation for the Mach 2 (22LR necked down to 17 cal.). Recheck your model number to be certain. If all else fails, call Marlin direct.

I can't help you with your Marlin, but I can give you a WELCOME TO THE FORUM!! :D :D

Thank you. It's nice to be here. I've really enjoyed this site.

I was able to look this gun up in a blue book and it indicates that this gun, NIB, is worth between $90-$175. That's about all they say.

I'm just wondering if I should keep it or trade it for a nice 10/22.
A 10/22 is better by far.
