I have a NEF 45-70 with the factory open sights. I want to upgrade the open sights. I am not very knowledgeable in this area. I am looking for suggestions. I like the set up on the H&R Buffalo classic: "Williams receiver sight, and a Lyman target front sight with eight aperture inserts". Should I go to those manufacturers and copy that set up or is there a set up (set) that may bolt right on that is comparible?

I'm not particularly familiar with the NEF guns, but as long as you have a 3/8 dovetail for the front sight, you ought to be able to find something here:

Not sure about the rear sight.... either a Tang-mounted aperture sight or a "receiver" sight, which in this case would actually be mounted on the chamber portion of the barrel.
