Are the rifled barreled shotguns just really rifles that shoot a (sometimes) larger round? Other than the bore size, what makes it a "shotgun" if it's designed to shoot sulgs?

Just trying to generate traffic,

I've often wondered that myself. I've just ordered a fully-rifled barrel for my Weatherby SAS, so I'm taking advantage of the lack of a distinction. :) It strikes me that this is one of the few places where the antis' utter ignorance about firearms may be working in our favor. No doubt they'd try to outlaw fully rifled shotgun barrels and sabots if they had any idea what either one of them is.
