I'd say you've got good taste in both firearms and cartridges :D

    Advantages:
Longer barrel length with shorter overall length.
Reliability (I've never seen a single shot rifle jam)
    Bragging rights
More accurate than you'll ever be
    Safety
Lightweight, unless you get one of the heavy varmint ones

    Disadvantages:
Takes longer to reload, which is not good if you're hunting bears and other angerous animals, but for the less dangerous animals this isn't major
Recoil might be a tad harsh if you get one of the lighter models
    .....uh.......

All in all, an excellent choice if you can do the job with one shot. Make sure you shoot it a lot so you can.

A superb weapon and arguably the 30-06 is the finest over all round ever developed. Relaoding them isn't as slow as most people think if you practice doing it. I'll wager I can get off 3 ACCURATE shots as fast or faster as the average bolt gun user. You'll love the gun.
