Longer barrel length with shorter overall length.
Reliability (I've never seen a single shot rifle jam)
More accurate than you'll ever be
Lightweight, unless you get one of the heavy varmint ones
Takes longer to reload, which is not good if you're hunting bears and other angerous animals, but for the less dangerous animals this isn't major
Recoil might be a tad harsh if you get one of the lighter models
All in all, an excellent choice if you can do the job with one shot. Make sure you shoot it a lot so you can.
A superb weapon and arguably the 30-06 is the finest over all round ever developed. Relaoding them isn't as slow as most people think if you practice doing it. I'll wager I can get off 3 ACCURATE shots as fast or faster as the average bolt gun user. You'll love the gun.
