I shot my 450 for the first time this weekend and on the first shot from a standing position hit a balloon about head size at 100 yards.

My nephew did the same on his first shot. My brother-in law on his second shot.

I don't recommend high volume shooting but this gun is great right out of the box.

The 450 should be a great deer and black bear round for thick cover hunting. I like the idea of a big hole right from the start!!

The 450 marlin and the 45/70 both are more accurate than most people think.I have turned a few heads while shooting my 45/70.

That old 45/70 in a well made modern rifle is a tack driver and great close quarters hunting caliber.

I know a PH in S Africa who uses a Marlin 45/70 as a follow up rifle for going after wounded plains game. A wounded Wildebeest or Gemsbok can and would kill you deader than a cold rock! :twisted: :shock:
