I took a 9 point over the Thanksgiving break. Got around to posting a pic. For a West Texas deer, he's pretty good sized, and the horns were unique for that part of the world. Really tall G2s, about 10 inches, and no spread on this fellow. He was running does, but not swollen neck. Took him at about 100 yards with a lowly 243.

Another picture, a few of the deer I've taken over the years on the ranch:

Good hunting all. I feel fortunate to have taken a few of these fellas, not trophies by most folks standards, but they're memories to me.

Those were 243 loads, 100grain sierra game king, PMC puts them out. Very muchly so drops that size of deer. I called it lowly, for many on this site and in life who call the .243 marginal for taking a deer, and I agree with thme, depending on what region you live in. For me, it's all the gun I'll ever need on a West Texas deer. Put me in Canada, and I'll be using a 30-06 at least as mininum (and frozen to death, likely).
